Volunteer Opportunities & Details
Help at one of our Adoption Centers
Our two adoption centers, located in Vista and Oceanside, house many of our felines as they wait to find their forever families. Our team of incredible volunteers helps pamper our furry friends during their stay with LYFF. Duties include daily care, feeding, litter box cleanup, general center upkeep, and (everybody’s favorite) playtime and cat cuddles. These are generally weekly commitments ranging from 2-3 hours per week. Weekday, weekend, morning, evening, and mid-day shifts are available.
Hour Requirements
- Monthly average: 10 volunteer hours
- Weekly and bi-weekly opportunities are available.
Youth Volunteers:
- 18 years or older: Can volunteer solo.
- 16-17 year olds: Two trainings and two shifts must be completed with the designated parent/guardian participating in the volunteer activities. Once those are completed, 16-17 year olds can attend volunteer hours solo and the parent no longer needs to attend.
- 12-15 year olds: Two trainings and ALL shifts must be completed with the designated parent/guardian present when the youth is onsite. The parent must participate in the volunteer activities.
- Under 12 years old: Due to liability, unfortunately we are unable to accept volunteers under 12 for on-site volunteer activities, though they are welcome to support other activities, such as special projects. Please contact LYFF for more information.
Volunteer during weekend Cuddle Hours
Our volunteer greeters welcome visitors who want to spend time with the felines at our Vista Adoption Center on Saturdays and Sundays. Duties include welcoming guests to the cat lounge, checking them in, answering general questions, monitoring interactions, and assisting with adoptions.
